Audrey Isla (O’Connor) Payne, passed away on January 16, 2018 in Urbana, IL surrounded by her children. Audrey was born in Decatur, IL on July 6, 1934 to Dewey and Audrey O'Connor. Audrey married James (Jimmy) Payne on July 6, 1957 and called Mt. Prospect, IL their home for 34 years.

Audrey loved playing bridge, enjoyed gardening, swimming, trips to Chicago which she called My city, and flying her beloved kite at the beach on Padre Island when she could escape winter. She also loved her son's lake house and spending winters in Las Vegas. She was a fan of Bruce Springsteen and Prince and played music often & loudly!
She enjoyed volunteering with Camp Fire Girls, spending time with family, and cooking for family and friends. Audrey was a devout Roman Catholic and member of St. Mary Church in Centralia and St. Raymond’s in Mt. Prospect.

Audrey spent her last year at Autumn Fields Assisted Living in Savoy where she loved the staff and made many friends. She always said that her friend Joe was the most fun guy there, cherishing their drives and lively banter.

Audrey is survived by her son Tom Payne (Roxann) of Hallsville, MO, daughter Sue Paulsen (Rick) of Huntley, IL, and daughter Laura Payne (Carlos) of Urbana, IL as well as her grandsons Rob Paulsen (Mandy), Kevin Paulsen, Matt Payne (Candyce), and granddaughter Katie Sexton (Will). She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and special honorary daughter #3 Robin and Gianna her honorary granddaughter #2.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, in 2006; her brothers Jerome and Robert and their wives Pat and Shirley, her sister-in-law Mary Moore, nephew Tyler, and brother-in-law John.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, January 20th from 10am until 12:30pm at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia IL. The funeral mass will be at 1pm at St. Mary’s Church with Father James Nall officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia.
