Treva P. Berry, 97, of New Athens, IL, formerly of Odin, IL passed away Wednesday February 7, 2018 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family in New Athens, IL. She was born on May 13, 1920 the daughter of Bill and Bertha (Hawkins) Durall in Walnut Hill, IL. She married Earnest L. Berry on September 24, 1938 in St. Charles, MO. They shared 45 years of loving marriage before his death on July 6, 1984.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Vicky Lewis and husband Terry of New Athens, IL; treasured grandchildren, Corey Hays and wife April, Jeremy Lewis, Jeff Ward and wife Brenda, David Ward and wife Carol, Steve Ward, Wade Ward, Kayla Wedekemper and husband Thomas; 14 precious great-grandchildren; many cherished great-great-grandchildren; many caring nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Jim Williams of Dubios, IL; devoted daughter-in-law, Dean Berry of Glenridge, IL.

Treva was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband Earnest Berry; her children, Wayne Berry, Ronnie Berry, Janice Dobbs; a grandchild, Eddie Palmer; siblings, Merritt Durall, Clara Wooters, Iona Woods, Opal Hawthorne, Atholl Durall, Leaha Crenshaw, Maria Boyle and Deon Williams.

Mrs. Berry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odin for over 70 years and was celebrated as the oldest living member. She retired from Murray Center in Centralia, IL after 30 years as a mental health tech. Treva went on to work at the thrift shop in Odin, IL. She held membership with the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery and her social sewing club.

Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Odin, IL with Pastor Frank Gervasi officiating. Interment will be in the Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, IL. Family and friends may call from 4 – 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 11 at funeral home. Memorials may be made in Treva’s honor to the First Baptist Church in Odin, IL and Vitas Hospice of Fairview Heights, IL.
