Claudine Kwiatkowski, 90, of Tamaora, formerly of Sandoval, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin. She was born May 9, 1927 the daughter of Owen and Goldie (Pate) Thompson in Pontiac, IL. She married George Durham and they later divorced. He is now deceased. She later married John Kwiatkowski and he preceded her in death.

Claudine is survived by her children Robert Durham, wife Janet Sue of Patoka, Michael (Mick) Durham of Sparland, Rita Kendall of Sonoita, AZ, and Mary Vaughn, husband Mike of Walnut Hill; sister Betty Gray, husband Roger of Pontiac; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by both of her parents, and sisters Juanita Ferguson and Helen Gray.

Claudine’s dream was to become a doctor, instead she married and became a wife and mother. She loved to cook and collect new recipes. She had hoped to write a cookbook someday. Claudine loved to read about new medical research. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She liked going to auctions and collecting antiques. She also worked in several antique shops. Claudine loved life, her children and happiness.
