Gladys I. Atchison, 98, of Centralia, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Legacy Place in Breese. She was born the daughter of John and Martha (Braun) Vogt on February 26, 1920 in Centralia. She married Jack M. Atchison Sr. at Faith Methodist Church. He preceded her in death in 1993.

Gladys is survived by her devoted son, Jack Atchison, Jr., wife Kathryn of Edmond, OK; loving grandson Chris Atchison, wife Julie of Centralia; and a treasured great-grandson Maddox Atchison.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Ray, three sisters Gertie, Martha, and Eileen, and a dearly special friend Norma Browder.

Gladys owned and operated the Butcher Shop in Centralia, alongside her husband for 20 years. She was a lifelong member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ, having been confirmed at the age of thirteen. She was also a lifetime member of the Centralia VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed more recently the challenge of working crossword puzzles and was quite good at them. But most importantly, Gladys will be remembered as a devoted wife and dedicated mother and grandmother to her family.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the St. Peter United Church of Christ with Rev. Jim White officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to visiting hours one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family asks that in memory of Gladys memorial contributions be made to the St. Peter United Church of Christ.
