After retirement, he continued to work part time for Monken Chevrolet Buick GMC and Monken Nissan Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Centralia. He also worked for his dear friend Jan Monken at the Monken Farm. Gene was a man of faith who was very active in his church, serving as an Eucharistic minister, alter server, and assisting Father Dale Maxfield in any way he could.
