Raymond W. Brown Jr., 84, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1934 the son of Raymond W. Sr. and Margaret L. (Bowman) Brown in Falling Waters, WV. He married Helen Joyce Jones on May 23, 1953 and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2008.

Survivors include his loving children, Scott Brown of Salem, and Gaylan Brown of Fort Lauderdale, FL; precious grandchildren, David Sherman, Andrea Rardon, Echo McCollum; cherished great-grandchildren, Ariana, Charlotte, Chase, and Talia; adored great-great-grandchild, Karma.

Along with his wife of 55 years, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by both his parents; and an infant son, Stephen Brown.

Mr. Brown proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Airforce where he shared his gift of caring as a medic. Before retiring as a Master Sergeant with the Air Force, Ray had the opportunity to travel to many places. After his many dedicated years of service, he then took much enjoyment from spending time with his loving wife and reading. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Men Association. Raymond was known for his great BBQ and loved being a PawPaw to his grandchildren.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements. Per Ray’s wishes no services will be held. Cremation rights will be accorded.
