Florence Ticknor, 87, passed away peacefully and beautifully surrounded by family voices from afar and by her bedside on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. She was born on December 26, 1930 the daughter of Frank and Etta (Clark) Crawford in Patoka. She married the love of her life Edwin Ticknor July 2, 1949, at a double ceremony with her sister, Pauline and her sister’s husband to be Harold Lutz in Patoka.

Florence is survived by her son, Edwin “Eddie” Ticknor of Odin, IL; daughters, Linda (Skeet) Walker of Highland Park, IL and Ruth Ann Malcolm of Centralia, IL. Florence has five grandchildren: special grandson, Kevin (Charity) Ticknor, Melissa (David) Trandel, Tony Kern, Sarah (Kevin) Cioffi, and Andrew Malcolm; five great-grandchildren: Bethany (Ivan) McConnaughay, Ryan Ticknor, Courtney Ticknor, Ava and Jude Trandel; two great-great grandchildren; and brother, Charles “Luke” Crawford and his wife Barbara of Odin, IL.

Mrs. Ticknor is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin; son-in-law, Rodney Malcolm; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters; and sister-in-law Joanne Ticknor.

Florence was a loving, caring and wonderful woman. Her spirit was contagious and her zest for life was inspirational.

Florence was an active member of Sandoval Methodist Church. She looked forward to seeing everyone on Sunday mornings. Throughout the years, Florence was employed at Children Family Services, Crain, Cooksey, Veltman & Miller Law Firm and worked closely beside her husband, Edwin, at their Meat Processing Plant, as well as helped manage the family farm.

Florence enjoyed gardening and canning, working in her yard and octagon garden, dancing, water aerobics classes, cooking and baking and, most importantly, spending time with her family.

Florence will be missed dearly. She was a true gift and we were all so blessed to have her in our lives. She will forever remain in our hearts.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Larry Miller and Directing Pastor Kenneth Hayden officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Florence’s honor to Sandoval Fire Department or Sandoval Methodist Church.
