Anola “Marie” (Crawford) Atchison, 83, of Patoka, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, surrounded by family. She was born on April 2, 1935 the daughter of James “Don” and Florence (Adams) Crawford in Vandalia, IL. She married Darrell Ray Atchison on May 12, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Patoka, IL and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2017.

Marie was devoted to her family, children, Debra Militello and husband Mick of Channahon, IL, and Darrell “Keith” Atchison of Patoka; daughter-in-law, Peggy Atchison of Patoka, IL; 4 grandchildren, Kevin Smith and wife Tara, Keith Alan Atchison and wife Kristin, Dayna Deignan, and Kari Martin and husband Jared; 8 great-grandchildren, Kristin Smith, Madison Deignan, Sydney Atchison, Sawyer Atchison, Tristin Deignan, Maddux Smith, Adley Martin, and Brynley Martin.
Along with her husband of 64 years, Mrs. Atchison was preceded in death by both her parents; and brother, William Kent Crawford.

Marie was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Patoka. She and her husband Darrell enjoyed their retirement in Texas and Marie was very involved with their church there. She was skilled with her hands, knitting beautiful creations for family and friends. Marie had a special bond with her grandchildren and loved being a part of their life, watching them grow into adults she was so very proud of. She also was grateful of the blessing of 8 great-grandchildren and cherished the joy they brought into her life. Marie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Patoka United Methodist Church with Rev. Lisa Wiedman, and Pastor Bruce Sasse officiating. Friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s honor to Patoka United Methodist Church, Patoka Fire Department or Fayette County Hospice.
