Paul W. Adams, 82, of Patoka passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018. He was born on June 29, 1936 the son of Fielding and Ruth (Karr) Adams in Patoka. He married Barbara Knight on March 14, 1964 in Mascoutah.

Paul was a devoted family man to his surviving wife of 54 years, Barbara Adams; children, Bill Downen (Tamara) of Lowell, IN, Bryan Downen (Sheila) of Carlyle, Greg Adams and fiancée LeeAnn Corley of IN, Robyn Rohrscheib (Billy) of Patoka, Paula Jean Conrad (Ken) of Kilgore, TX, Pamela Adams of Centralia, and Misty Cain (Kevin) of Patoka; grandchildren, Rebecca Downen, Shelby Downen, Dru Downen, Zachary Downen, Alisha Diaber, Travis Dutton, Alan Dutton, Holly Dutton, Amber Rohrscheib and Mike Alcorn, Shawn Rohrscheib, Ashley Rohrscheib, Stephanie Pickett (Josh), Tiffanie Burks-Cathey (Eric), Kyler Sargent, Gavin Kenneth Paul Finke, Shane Wesley Cain and Nicole “CoCo” Hassell, Ty Paul Cain, Wade William Cain, Kru Fielding Cain, and Khloe Dawn Cain; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Adams (Erma) of Patoka; sisters-in-law, Jane Adams of Patoka, and Leah Pearl Adams of OH; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Vera Mae Adams Stephens; brothers, Lee Adams, Carl Adams, David Adams; grandchildren, Jarred Wesley Adams, and Leric Cathey.

Mr. Adams proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He was a member of the Patoka Pentecostal Church, Patoka American Legion, and Laborers Union Local. Paul always gave back and was involved in the community, as a volunteer fireman for Patoka’s Fire Department, and cheering on the next big win for Patoka’s Warrior Nation, never missing a game. A man who never shied away from hard work, Paul was a loyal employee for both Tune Trucking and Joe Blunt Trucking, where they will remember his CB handle “Hill Topper”. Paul was kind and friendly, never meeting a stranger and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. He will be remembered for tooling around in his golf cart and watching his St. Louis Cardinals win. Paul’s true passion in life was his family and they are honored to carry on his legacy.

Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Patoka Pentecostal Church in Patoka with Pastor Samuel Hester & Bro Richard French officiating. Interment will be at the Patoka City Cemetery in Patoka. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Patoka Pentecostal Church in Patoka. Memorials may be made in Paul’s honor to the Family’s Wishes and will be accepted at the funeral home.
