Denice Paulus joined her beloved husband, Gerard, in paradise Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 12:45 p.m., after passing away at her home in the company of her family and friends. Born on September 7, 1954, she was preceded in death by her parents, Nelva and Eldon Stewart; her husband, Gerard Paulus and her brother Raymond (Leroy) Stewart. She is survived by her daughter, Layla Paulus Slater, her husband Brian Slater and their two children, Noah and Abigail; her son Nathan Paulus, his wife Monika Najselova and their daughter Alexa; her son Gabriel Paulus and his girlfriend Lori Newton; her brother Brian Hawk; and her cousins Julie Kennett, Danny Davis, Shelly Strange, and Robbie Strange.

Denice and Gerard were married in Palmyra, MO on June 16, 1973 and resided in Monmouth, IL, until moving to Centralia in 2004. She lived a happy, fulfilling life as a loving wife and mother, which was her biggest dream. When her children were old enough, she studied to obtain a real estate license and nursing certificate. She worked as a nurse in Monmouth and Centralia, until retiring in 2017, touching the lives of many. Denice enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends and took great joy in selflessly lending her support to those who depended on her most.

Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Rob Strange officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visiting hours on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Denice’s honor can be made to the Irvin Macz funeral home to aid with expenses.
