Elizabeth Jones, 70, of Chicago passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 25, 1947 the daughter of Willie Hardin Sr. and Arthrula (Rhodes) Hardin in Mt. Vernon, Il. She married the love of her life Verlin Jones Sr. in Mt. Vernon, Il on December 22, 1966. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2016.

Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Anthony Hardin and wife Beverly of Highland, IN, Verlin Jones Jr. and wife Gwendolyn of Mt. Vernon, IL, Yolanda Pickett and husband Anthony of Shorewood, IL; precious grandchildren, Tempest C. Willis, Taylor Wilbourn, Ameir Wilbourn, Alexis Kellum, Carmen Kellum, Verdell Jones, and Anthony Scott-Hardin Jr.; prized great-grandchildren, Ayden Jackson, Dominic Salazar, Dylan Salazar; two cherished brothers, Willie Hardin and wife Amy Sue, Oliver Hardin and wife Carmen; 4 beloved sisters, Alisteen Meredith, Ophelia Wesley, Leona Jones and husband Darrell Sr., Charlie Ruth Hardin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas Jones Jr., Donald Jones Sr., Lorena Jones, Marshall Young, Betty Jackson, Tereda Jones, Tyrone Jones and wife Cyntha; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by both her parents, Willie Hardin Sr. and Arthrula Hardin; husband, Verlin Jones; and sister, Aquila Hardin.

Mrs. Jones known to her loved ones as Liz, was a strong faithful Christian woman. She raised her three children with her husband Verlin. Liz loved her career, she worked for L’oreal for 20 years before retiring. She was a great cook, famous for her peach cobbler. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Rick’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Centralia with Rev. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made in Elizabeth’s honor to the Family’s wishes.
