Nathan Michael Rothschild, 94, of O’Fallon, formerly of Centralia passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Cambridge House of O’Fallon, Illinois. He was born on August 8, 1924 the son of Jacob and Bessie (Cohen) Rothschild in Chicago. He married Beverly Chovis on February 9, 1947 in Chicago and she preceded him in death.

Nathan was devoted to his family, surviving sons, David E. Rothschild and his wife Beryle of Caseyville,IL, Jeffrey H. Rothschild and his wife Michele of Arlington, TX, and Paul J. Rothschild of Frisco, TX; treasured grandchildren, Adam Rothschild and his wife Anjuli, Randi Dinkelman and her husband Brian, Rachel Prindle and her husband Drew, and Sarah Rothschild; precious great-grandchildren, Alina Rothschild, and Sydney Dinkelman; and supportive brother, Harvey Rothschild and his wife Delores.

Along with his wife, Beverly Rothschild, Mr. Rothschild was preceded in death by both of his parents; sisters, Frieda Lesorgen, and Jeanette Rothschild; brothers, Jules Rothschild, and Harry Rothschild.

Mr. Rothschild was proud to serve his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Nathan was a member of the Centralia Rotary Club, where he was bestowed the prestigious honor of a Lifetime Honorary Membership on July 9, 2018, honoring his over 40 years of service. He was extremely civic minded and gave generously of his time and resources, holding a membership with the Masons and Shriners. Nathan was the owner and operator of the Mars Sales and Equipment Company in Centralia. He was involved in the prosperity of Centralia as a member of the Centralia Chamber of Commerce and The Planning and Zoning Commission and truly loved the town of Centralia. He was co-founder of The Centralia Historical Museum. He will be remembered by all he met as a gentleman that never met a stranger. His legacy of compassion and generosity will continue on from the example he gave to all.

Masonic Funeral Rites will be given by the Centralia Masonic Lodge #201 at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Friends and family are welcome to a visitation time from 5:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. A Shiva Service will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Weinstein and Piser Funeral Home in Wilmette, IL. Burial will follow at Mlawa Cemetery in Chicago.
