Velma Lee Haizlip, 86, of Centralia passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Fireside House of Centralia. She was born on July 20, 1931 the daughter of John and Ethel (Jones) Duke in Paris, TN. She married Roby Haizlip on November 28, 1947 in Salem and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.

Velma was devoted to each member of her family, survivors include children, Marlina Stilwell and husband Michael of Odin; and Gary Haizlip of Centralia; grandchildren, Chris Slagley, Jamie Slagley, Bobbie Jo Haizlip, Rusty Haizlip, Brian Haizlip; several great-grandchildren; special niece, Mary Ann Sherman; and nephew, Earl Felton.

Along with her husband of 62 years, Roby Haizlip, Mrs. Haizlip was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Christine Felton; daughter, Janis Haizlip; son, Robert Haizlip.

Velma was a wonderful lady that enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved working in her garden, tenderly raising amazing vegetables, she would can, to share their fresh flavors during the winter months. Velma truly had a green thumb and also tended to flower gardens, growing beautiful flowers that brought her much joy.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Wesley Miller officiating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Velma’s honor to American Kidney Cancer Foundation or American Heart Foundation.
