Levi Williams Jr., 69, of Centralia, passed away February 1, 2019 at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, M0 with his devoted family by his side. He was born May 13, 1949 the son of Levi Williams Sr. and Luberta (Dunn) Williams in Grenada, MS. He married the love of his life Moneta Barnes in 1973 in Grenada, MS.

Survivors to carry on Mr. Williams’ memory, his wife, Moneta Williams of Centralia; devoted children, Jason Barnes and wife Amy of Odin, JaVon Williams Sr. and wife Consuelo of Centralia, Robert Williams and special friend Shannon of Centralia, LarNeta Williams of Centralia, Whitney Williams and special friend Dierre Hill Sr. of Centralia, Marcus Currie of Aurora, IL; 19 beloved grandchildren, 6 cherished great-grandchildren; siblings, Flora Willis of Centralia, Ruby O’Neal of Centralia, Mary Williams of Grenada, MS, L.C. Williams of Grenada, MS, T.J. Williams and wife Josiephine of Grenada, MS, Berta Offutt and husband Phillip of Centralia, Earl Williams of Grenada, MS, Minnie Mister and husband Monte of Grenada, MS, James Henry Hubbard and wife Ernestine of Grenada, MS, Calvin Hubbard of Grenada, MS, Patricia Tedford and husband Dale of Grenada, MS, Kenny Willis of Grenada, MS, Dorthy O’Neal of Memphis, TN, Nathaniel Westley and wife Christine of Centralia; best friend, James Fortney of Centralia; special friend, Hester Williams, of Centralia; host of nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.

Mr. Williams is preceded in death by both his parents, Levi Sr. and Luberta Williams; 2 sons, Levi Williams III, and Maurice Currie; 2 granddaughters, Seyonia Taylor, Tahonia Williams; 1 brother, Joe L. Williams; mother-in-law, Shirley Barnes; father-in-law, John Barnes; sister-in-law, Vannessa Barnes; brother-in-law, Steve Barnes; host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Williams was a faithful member of Ricks Chapel AME Zion, Masons and Men United. Levi left his home of Grenada, MS at the age of 21 and lived in Haynes City, FL. He then moved to Centralia and started his family. He worked for the City of Centralia for 35 years before retirement. Levi enjoyed fishing, dancing, and spending time with his friends and family. He loved to listen to the Blues and Lee Williams (The Williams Brothers). He also enjoyed going to St. Louis to listen to his cousin Marquise Knox perform. Mr. Williams was a man that thoroughly embraced life and had a passion for so many things. He loved drinking coffee with his coffee buddies, joking and having fun. He took advantage of being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Mr. Williams had a keen sense of style and was always well dressed. His family and friends will cherish his loving, generous spirt and will treasure all of the wonderful memories they shared.

Celebration of life services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Rick’s Chapel Church in Centralia with Pastor Powell officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Friends and relatives are invited to visiting hours from 11:00 a.m. till time of service on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the church in Centralia. Memorial contributions may be made to Rick’s Chapel Church in Mr. Williams Honor.
