Teena Yuvel Meeks, 54, of Odin passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon with her family by her side. She was born on November 11, 1964 the daughter of Roscoe Jr. and Georgia (Winbush) Meeks in Centralia.

Teena was athletic and ran track for both Centralia Grade and High Schools. Teena attended beauty school in Florida before becoming a caregiver. Teena was a compassionate lady that shared her love for others by working as a CNA in Bloomington. She also was a computer tech for Caterpillar in Bloomington. Those that knew Teena well were so inspired by the way she treated others with kindness and respect. She was always ready to help in any way possible. Teena enjoyed traveling to new places and had a natural talent for interior decorating. She was a true animal lover and showed attention for her dog Nas. She will be deeply missed by all that she knew and loved.

Left to carry on her memories are her devoted mother, Georgia Jones Richardson of Odin; loving sister, Brook Meeks of Benton; half-brothers, Jason Meeks of Carbondale, and Derek Hall of Alton; special friend, Cotrell Richardson; special nieces, Pearlishanina Meeks of Centralia, Connierose’l Shackelford of Centralia; nephew, Jelani McClain Jr. of Naperville; step-nephew Anthony Wood of Centralia; godchildren, LaNijah and Enijah Brown; a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.

Teena was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rozel and Connie Winbush; paternal grandmother, Lee Meeks; father, Roscoe Meeks Jr.; sister, Cariene Jones; nephew-in-law, Qwinton “Turtle” Shackelford Sr.; special cousin, Chris Lawson; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. A visitation time will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Teena’s honor to Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation.
