Tom Carter, 64, of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at his home. He was born January 4, 1955, the son of Milburn (Tek) Carter and Jewell (Wilderman) Carter in Danville. He married Susan Qualls on May 15, 1982, in Centralia.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Carter, of Centralia; children Andrea Marcum of Cantrall, Il, Richard Carter and wife Megan of Belvedere, SC, and Zachary Carter and wife Nikki of Vandalia; precious grandchildren Gabriel Eugene, Emma Rose, and Carter Gregory Marcum, Zoey Abigail Carter, Aniya Lloyd, and honorary granddaughter, Rain Marcum. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Rosemma Qualls, whom he loved.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn and Jewell Carter.

Tom retired after 39 years of faithful care at Warren G Murray Center in Centralia where he was devoted to each individual receiving the best attention. From an early age Tom took great pride in working hard and making sure he always did a job to the best of his abilities. He truly enjoyed having his family around him. He loved working in his yard, and gardening, working in the gardens at Murray Center, and spending time with his dog, Precious.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Spencer Marcum officiating. Interment to follow at Richview Cemetery. A visitation time will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Tom’s honor to Richview Cemetery.
