Bonnie I. Bowen, 94, of Salem, formerly of Patoka passed away peacefully Sunday, April, 21, 2019 at Twin Willows Nursing Home in Salem with the loving support of her family surrounding her. She was born on February 24, 1925 the daughter of William and Elva (Foltz) Palmer in Marion County. She married her longtime sweetheart, Raymond Bowen on June 9, 1945 and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2015.

Bonnie leaves treasured memories shared with her devoted son Les Bowen of Homestead, Florida; loving daughter Linda Haney and husband Robert of Salem; eight precious grandchildren; seventeen cherished great-grandchildren; four dear great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband of 69 years, Raymond Bowen, Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by both her parents William and Elva Palmer; daughter Connie Cox; sisters, Frances Newman, and Virginia Hamilton.

Bonnie proudly served her country in the Woman’s Army Corp. during World War II. After her service she raised a family and worked alongside her husband in various endeavors and in their Christian Ministry. She was a devout Christian woman, and a member of the Patoka Christian Church. She was known for her hand painted cards she would send loved ones; and her wonderful cooking.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00A.M. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Patoka Christian Church in Patoka, with Micah Schnautz officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Cemetery in Patoka. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Patoka Christian Church in Patoka with the services following. Memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s honor in lieu of flowers to the New Horizon Christian School, or the Patoka Christian Church.
