Mary A. Weathersby, 79, of Centralia ascended to her Heavenly home Friday, April 26, 2019. She was born on April 10, 1940 the daughter of Walter Carr Sr. and Tennessee (Taylor) Carr in Water Valley, Mississippi. She married her life’s love, Charles Weathersby on February 28, 1970 in Centralia, IL.

Survivors to carry on precious memories of Mary include her husband, Charles Weathersby Sr. of Centralia, IL; devoted children, Kenneth Wilmington (Carol) of Davenport, Iowa, James L. Wilmington Sr. (Sheila) of Davenport, Iowa, Lucretia A. Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dwight Wilmington Sr. (Nina) of Duquion, IL, Charlisa D. Moore (Anthony) of Mt. Vernon, IL Brett A. Weathersby Sr. of Columbus, Ohio, Sybil I. Vicente (Daniel Jr.) of Champaign, IL, Donald C. Weathersby Sr. (Laura) of Winter Haven, Florida, Ruth F. Ashlock (Harold) of Centralia, IL, Charles E. Weathersby Jr. (Dawnlee) of Centralia, IL; bonus daughters, Brenda Cannon, Nita Sue Sandoval; 70 precious grandchildren; 82 adored great-grandchildren; loving brother, Joe Willie Carr (Nick) of Water Valley, Mississippi; caring daughter-in-law, Carol Wilmington of Davenport, Iowa; best friend/sister, Generista Williams; special family friend, Donald “Durk” Duncan; special niece, Freda Stewart McGee; host of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; extended family and friends.

Mrs. Weathersby was preceded in death by both her parents, Walter Sr. and Tennessee Carr; sons, Jimmy R. Wilmington, Alonzo Weathersby; sister, Lula Mae Booker; brothers, Russell Carr, Walter Carr, Fred Carr; son-in-law, Michael Johnson.

Mrs. Weathersby was a faithful member of New Covenant Ministries where she shared her love for her Lord and Savior and was a Mother of the church. Mrs. Weathersby was a proud Mother to her beloved children. She received so much joy caring for her children and watching them grow. She also helped to support her family by working at Littelfuse in Centralia and retiring from St. Mary’s Hospital’s laundry department. Mary was a true collector, cherishing her knick knacks and she would come to the aid of anyone searching for an item, as she always seemed to have exactly what that person was looking for. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and fishing. Mary held a lucky streak with gaming and calling out Bingo always put a smile on her face. Her heart was for her family, her children lovingly calling her “Mum”. She extended her loving, generous heart to her entire community where she was known as “Granny” to all. Her kindness and compassion will live on in all the lives that she touched.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Allen Rudd officiating. A visitation time will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mary’s honor to the Family’s Wishes.
