Martha Jane Wilkes, 78, of Sandoval passed away with her loving family by her side Sunday, June 9, 2019 at her home. She was born on October 2, 1940 the daughter of Bill Sr. and Bessie (Cummins) Wilmoth in Sandoval. She married the love of her life, Gerald Wilkes on May 20, 1966 at the Sandoval Pentecostal Church. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2013.

Survivors to carry on precious memories of Martha Jane include her cherished son, Jerry Wilkes and wife Michelle of Junction City; treasured grandchildren, Jessica Hatcher and husband Eric, and Patience Wilkes; precious great-grandchildren, Hunter Wilkes, Kaitlin Hatcher, and Johnny Hatcher; devoted siblings, Lucille Dalton of Sandoval, Jody Fair of Sandoval, Bill Wilmoth and wife Joy of Sandoval, and David Wilmoth and wife Becky of Sandoval; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beulah Crunk of Odin, James Wilkes of Memphis, TN, Joyce Owen of St. Peters, MO, Carol Wilkes of St. Peters, MO, Joan Wilkes of Mt. Vernon, Shirley Pinkowski of Odin, Wilma Jourdan and husband Ronnie of Sandoval and Leonard Wilkes of Sandoval, Kathy and Craig Alcorn of Centralia, and Linda Lamar of Salem; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Along with her husband of 46 years, Gerald Wilkes, Martha Jane was preceded in death by both her parents, Bill Sr. and Bessie Wilmoth; sisters, Shirley Murray and husband Alvin, Freda Maas; sister-in-law, Pat Wilkes; brothers-in-law, Ken Wilkes, Robert Wilkes, Terry Pinkowski, and Dennis Wilkes.

Martha Jane was a faithful and lifetime member of the Sandoval Apostolic Church where she shared her love for Jesus and taught Sunday school. She was a diligent employee, working at Hollywood Candy Factory in Centralia and Sandoval Hucks. Martha Jane had an amazing green thumb, growing beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetable gardens. She had a God given talent for being creative, painting figurines and making crafts. Martha Jane was the best cook, truly famous for her potato salad and always ready to make a mouthwatering meal out of the wild game her husband and son harvested. Her family loved her fried rabbit. She was a kind and compassionate lady, so proud to be a grandma and great-grandma. Martha Jane’s loving presence will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Travis Dalton officiating. Interment will follow at Deadmond Cemetery near Sandoval. A visitation time will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 and also Thursday, June 13 from 11:00 A.M. until the start of service, at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Martha Jane’s Honor to Sandoval Apostolic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
