Arlene Emma Wollenweber, 87, of Shattuc passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019. She was born on June 27, 1932 the daughter of August H. and Margaret R. (Otterbach) Hemminghaus in rural Shattuc. She married Donald W. Wollenweber on July 28, 1957 in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1994.

Survivors include devoted daughters, Ruth Kent and husband Randy of Centralia, IL, and Judy Schneider and husband Steve of Jackson, MO; cherished grandchildren, Jill Kinsella and husband R.J., Ryan Kent and wife April, Casey Osler and husband Chris, and Joseph Schneider; precious great-grandchildren, Sam, Lucas, and Zach Kinsella, Mallory Kent, and Harrison Osler; caring sister, JoAnn Knolhoff and husband Roger of Shattuc; and special nephew and niece, David Knolhoff and wife Amy, and Cheryl Twenhafel and husband Todd.

Along with her husband of 36 years, Donald Wollenweber, Arlene was preceded in death by both her parents, August and Margaret Hemminghaus; grandson, Jacob Schneider; great-granddaughter, Kylie Kent.

Arlene lived all her life in the rural Shattuc area and was proud to call this area her home. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle where she and her husband, Don were married. Arlene was involved in the tax preparation business for 35 years and worked alongside her husband on their family’s farm. Arlene was a strong, independent lady that was an inspiration to others. Her attention to details was amazing and such a blessing to those she helped. She was generous to all and was always so very grateful to all that showed kindness to her. Arlene loved her family with a passion, her children, grandchildren and her sister holding a special place in her heart.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 7, 2019 at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Rev. Scott Schilbe officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 A.M. Monday until the time of service at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Arlene’s honor to the Huey-Ferrin-Boulder volunteer fire protection district, Sandoval Ambulance or Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle.
