Graveside Service A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman

Edward “Ed” Paul Sprehe, 83, of Centralia passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 at Centralia Manor in Centralia. He was born on January 28, 1936 the son of Edward H. and Paula (Lehmann) Sprehe in Hoffman, IL.

Mr. Sprehe is survived by his beloved children, Lisa Lampe and husband Dean, of Centralia, and Daniel Sprehe of Chicago; grandsons, Dylan Lampe of Tampa, Florida, and Reed Lampe of Murray, Kentucky; sisters, Edith F. “Edie” Oestreich, Rowena “Winnie” Miller, and Lela “Lil” Trumbo.

Ed was preceded in death by both his parents, Edward H. and Paula Sprehe; and sister, Barb Thompson.

Mr. Sprehe served his country with honor in the United States Army as a sharpshooter and electrician. After his faithful service Ed returned home to work for the United States Postal Service as a supervisor and retired after 32 years of service. Ed’s passion was carpentry and he built several homes in Centralia. He enjoyed gardening and growing the best tomatoes that he would share with family and friends. Ed was a life long member of the Elks and grew close friendships with others at the Lodge. Mr. Sprehe was a man of faith and was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hoffman.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoffman with Pastor Stacy Tate officiating. Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is honored to assist the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Ed’s honor to Centralia Elks Lodge 493.
