Betty Ann Hackney, 76, of Sandoval passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at her home. She was born on September 16, 1943 daughter of Bill and Cleo (Spencer) Hackney in Perryville, MO.

Survivors that will smile while remembering Betty include her cherished sister, Doris Ann Stokes of Salem, IL; beloved niece, Michele Allen (Chris) of Assumption, IL; treasured nephew, David Stokes of Sandoval, IL; special great-nieces and great-nephews, Nathan Dugan of Assumption, IL, NiCole Dial of Assumption, IL, Brittney Hayes of Branson, MO, Siara Stokes of Salem, IL; precious great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Peyten Dial, Kinadee Dial, Kloee Dial, Chandler Stokes, Brielle Kraus, Hudson Hayes, and Kyson Stokes; and lifelong partner, Terry Larue.

Betty was preceded in death by both her parents, Bill and Cleo Hackney.

Betty was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Sandoval where she learned how much Jesus loved her at an early age. She was a hardworking lady and a dedicated employee of Salem National Bank for 40 years. Betty was also a part-time employee in her hometown for the Sandoval City Water Company. She loved working in the city of Salem and making lasting relationships with those that came into the bank. Betty was involved in the “Beautify Salem” project, bringing her many talents to aid in making Salem beautiful. Recently, Betty held an important role on the Democratic Committee in Marion County where she worked tirelessly for the party she held a passion for. She enjoyed searching for a bargain while shopping, and traveling to experience the beauty of new places. Betty’s friends and family always came first and she made a point of making time for each of them. Betty had a smile and a welcome greeting for all and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 13, 2019 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Pastor Rick Pearce officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in rural Sandoval. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 12, 2019 and also one hour before service time on Friday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Sandoval Fire Department and/or the First Baptist Church in Sandoval.
