Betty J. Rose-Wood, 76, of Centralia passed away peacefully Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Odin Health Care Center in Odin. She was born on December 21, 1943 the daughter of Hubert and Clara (Schuknecht) Rose in Pauls Valley, OK. Betty’s second marriage was to Terry Wood in 1974 and they raised a family together.

Survivors remain that share wonderful memories of time well spent with Betty include her beloved children, Maria Yardy (John) of Norman, OK, Mark Wood (Carla) of Noble, OK, Doug Wood (Pam) of Centralia, IL, Devona Eby of Shawnee, OK, Derika Rayburn (James) of Spencer, OK; 9 precious grandchildren; 6 treasured great-grandchildren; special sisters, Sarah Craney (Louis) of Centralia, IL, and Joan Rose of Centralia, IL; and loved niece, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by both her parents, Hubert and Clara Rose.

Betty graduated with her registered nursing degree from Kaskaskia College in 1973. She was a competent and caring registered nurse in Illinois and Oklahoma for over 40 years helping patients in both nursing homes and hospitals. She was a loving mother and raised her beloved children in Oklahoma. Being raised in Kuwait and Venezuela, as a child, since her father worked for Gulf Oil, Betty developed a love for exotic animals. She loved all animals her favorites being her Caiman, “Chinky” and her parrot, “Lorenzo”. Betty was a very sweet lady and an amazing cook. She enjoyed time to read and had a passion for music, playing saxophone and singing. Betty’s claim to fame was being a “Granny” to her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is honored to be assisting the family of Betty Rose-Wood with arrangements. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Oklahoma. Memorials may be made in Betty’s honor to Irvin Macz Funeral Home to aid the family with expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
