Ivan R. Prosise, 92, of Centralia passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born on November 5, 1927 the son of Floyd and Eula (Miller) Prosise in Walnut Hill. He married Jacqueline Buehne in 1950 in Centralia and she preceded him in death.

Survivors that hold fond memories of Ivan’s dedication to his family include his devoted children, Gary Prosise and wife Mona G. of Centralia, Mark Prosise and wife Mona of Centralia, and Jeff Prosise and wife Stacey of Columbus, OH; 9 precious grandchildren; 14 cherished great-grandchildren; and 1 special great-great-grandchild.

Along with his wife, Mr. Prosise was preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Opal Kline; brothers, Neil Prosise, and Alan Prosise.

Mr. Prosise service his country with honor in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and the Korean War. He continued his commitment to service in the Airforce Reserves. Being a proud veteran, Ivan was a member of the Centralia VFW Post 2055. He valued the benefits of a hard day’s work and was a loyal employee for Illinois Central Railroad upon returning home from the war. Ivan enjoyed rock hunting and was a member of the Southern Illinois Rock and Gem Association. He had an eye for the beauty of different woods as he created one-of-a-kind woodworking pieces. His family held special meaning to him and Ivan treasured time spent making memories together, and in true grandfather form he relished spoiling his grandchildren.

Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel in rural Sandoval with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation time at 9:00 A.M. at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia until the time of the service at the cemetery at 10:00 A.M.
