Dennis A. Strang, 77, of Patoka passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 27, 1942 the son of James and Ann (Wright) Strang in Marion. He married the love of his life, Jean Ann Young on September 5, 1969 at the Methodist Church in West Frankfort and she survives in Patoka.

Along with his beloved wife of 50 years Jean Ann Strang, survivors that will remember his kindness to all include his devoted son, Craig Willis and wife Kim of Patoka; cherished grandchildren, Dylan Willis and fiancée Molly Gray; precious great-grandchildren, Brantley, Jenna, and Gracie; special nephew, Mitchel; and special niece, Michelle.

Mr. Strang served his country with honor in the United States Army. He was a dedicated, caring teacher to all his students at Patoka Grade School as the sixth grade teacher for 30 years. Dennis was a member of the Patoka American Legion and Patoka Masonic Lodge. He had a gift for fixing up old cars, bringing these cared for vehicles back to their original glory. Dennis enjoyed fishing for a big catch at his favorite watering hole while taking in the beauty of nature. He was one of the St. Louis Cardinal’s biggest fans and tried to never miss a game. He could always be found with his furry babies, his dogs, “the girls”, Cassie and CoCo by his side. Dennis was a protective family man that offered his love and time to his family, especially treasuring his time spent with his great-grandchildren.

Day Macz Funeral Home in Patoka is honored to be assisting the family of Dennis Strang during their time of loss. Cremation rites were accorded with burial following at Magassi Cemetery in Patoka at a later date. Memorials may be made in Dennis’ honor to Patoka American Legion Scholarship Fund and/or Patoka Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
