Robert Lee Strayhorn was born on April 25, 1953 in Centralia, IL to Mary (Walker) Strayhorn and Robert Shaw. Robert lived in Centralia most of his life. He was well-loved and respected. Robert was baptized at an early age and lived his life dedicated to the Lord.

Robert enjoyed life and was a comedian in his own right. The family loves to quote many of his hilarious phrases. Robert loved to draw, eat good food, watch Elvis Presley movies and listen to Gospel music. His favorite hymn to sing was, “Jesus is Real.”

Robert departed this life and entered God’s eternal kingdom on July 6, 2020 after a brief illness. Robert leaves to cherish his memory: Brothers, Joe Strayhorn (Chicago), Dwayne Shaw (Dallas) and Terry Shaw (Dallas); Sisters: Julia Dickson (Calumet City) and Paula Adams (South Holland); Step-sisters: Karen Poore (Centralia) and Rhonda Buchana (Centralia), as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by both his parents, step-mother, Catherine Shaw, brother, Donald Strayhorn, step-brother, Larry Poore and nephews, Megell Strayhorn and Scipio Vaughn.

Robert was truly loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
