Reed White, 30, of Centralia passed away in his home Sunday, September 20, 2020 with his beloved wife by his side. Reed was born on September 11, 1990 to proud parents, Larry and Eva (Bryan) White in Centralia, Illinois. Reed married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Samantha Nikole Payne on February 16, 2019.

Along with his wife and parents, survivors who will cherish their memories of Reed are his sister, Bailey Wielt and brother-in-law, Gary Logan Wielt; grandparents, Matt and Norma Hails all from Centralia; grandparents, Frank and Patty Swango from Laughlin, NV; his faithful canine companion, Dave; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, & good friends.

Reed was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry White Sr.; grandfather, Rev. Charles Bryan; great-grandmother, Harriet Maxcene Veller; brother-in-law, Daniel Payne; aunt, Laura Verble; and uncle, Tommy White.

Reed valued the benefits of hard work at a young age. He was first employed by Riechmann Brothers at the age of 16. After graduating from Centralia High School in 2009 he attended Lincoln College in Indianapolis earning his automotive degree. While attending college, Reed was able to use his automotive skills working at Ray Skillman Chevy GMC and Balfour-Beatty Rail. After moving back home to Centralia, he worked for TN Track Services and most recently Evansville Western Railway. He loved working on cars and found his passion when he raced his first go-cart at the age of 7 at Belle Rive Speedway. He then moved on to racing dirt late models and later asphalt late models with CRA. Reed was one of the youngest drivers to win in Missouri at the Montgomery Speedway at only 14. Reed’s love for racing is also what brought he and his adored wife, Samantha together. The couple met at Greenville Fairgrounds when they were 14. Samantha had the opportunity to meet this young driver she had been cheering on from the stands. Reed won Samantha’s heart that day. This was only the beginning of their beautiful love story. Many years later it would bring them to Africa for a hunting trip where he proposed. Reed was a member of the Mt. Vernon Boat Club in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. He loved spending time with his dog Dave, working on cars, boating, and making memories with his family and friends. These treasured moments will be a comfort to all who knew and loved Reed.
